We have training rooms specially designed for 1-2-1 basis or groups that we can work on the theory side of things as well. With our specially designed ‘safe drive’ programme designed to combat young drink and drug related problems on the road, we hope to dramatically lower the risk of young people involved in accidents. This will involve practical sessions out on the road to theory and ‘drunk’ glasses in the training rooms. We hope to bring to the drivers attention the risk’s of drink, drugs and excessive speed whilst driving.
If you have parents that wish to wait we have tea and coffee making facilities. If they’re really keen they are more the welcome to come in to the theory sessions and listen to what we are teaching and participate within all our activities!
Last year nearly 900 people aged 16-18 were injured on Thames Valley roads and an average of 7 young people per week are killed or seriously injured. Young drivers are much more likely to be involved in a crash on the roads, often due to inexperience and a lack of knowledge of the risks. Around 1 in 4 deaths on the road is aged 17-24.
Through a combination of road policing, road safety education, engineering measures and speed enforcement, Thames Valley has seen serious and fatal collisions fall from 1,367 in 2000 to 957 in 2007. However, a disproportionate number of these remain young inexperienced drivers, and sometimes they don't help themselves. Thames Valley Police caught 51 drivers under the age of 25 for drink driving within a 6 week summer period!
